Based in Ormskirk, with engineers covering Merseyside, Greater Manchester and West Lancashire.
Types Of commerCIal intruder alarms we install & maintain
We install and maintain the full range of commercial intruder alarm systems. The right specification depends on your premises, your stock, and what your insurer requires.
hybrid system
Most of the sites we work on aren’t a clean sheet. Hybrid systems combine a wired backbone with wireless expansion, which suits premises that have been extended, subdivided or repurposed a warehouse with a bolted-on office block, a retail unit that’s taken over the shop next door. You keep the reliability of wired detection in the core areas and add coverage where cabling would be disproportionate.
monitored alarms
A monitored system signals to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) rather than simply sounding a bell. When an alarm is confirmed, the ARC follows an agreed escalation contacting keyholders, dispatching services, or requesting police attendance where the site holds a valid URN. Monitoring is what commercial insurers expect for anything above low-risk premises, and it’s the difference between finding out about a break-in at 3am and finding out when you open up.
Alarm System grades & insurance compliance
UK commercial intruder alarms are specified to EN 50131, applied through the British scheme PD 6662. The grade determines the level of protection, the standard of equipment, and how the system must be installed and maintained.
Grade 2
Suitable for premises where an intruder is expected to have limited knowledge of alarm systems. Typically specified for small commercial units, offices, and low-risk retail. This is the most common grade for straightforward commercial premises.
Grade 3
Specified where an intruder may be expected to understand alarm systems and use tools to defeat them. Most insurers require Grade 3 for premises holding higher-value stock such as electronics, pharmacy, tobacco and alcohol, cash handling, vehicle dealerships. Grade 3 brings stricter requirements on detection, tamper protection and signalling.
Grade 4
Reserved for high-security applications where an intruder is expected to plan an attack in detail and use substantial resources. Rarely specified outside of specialist environments.
commercial premises we protect & maintain
We install and maintain a full range of commercial intruder alarm systems across a number of different commercial premises across the North West with hundreds of satisfied customers. If you don’t see you premises listed get in touch and we’ll confirm if we can help you with your security project.
Warehousing and distribution
Large-volume detection, perimeter protection on loading doors, and Grade 3 specification for most stock profiles. Integration with CCTV for alarm verification is common.
Retail units
Shop-front and stockroom protection, panic alarms at tills, and systems that can be set and unset by multiple staff without service calls every time someone forgets a code.
offices
Zoned systems so late-working departments don’t lock out the rest of the building, with access control integration where appropriate.
manufacturing
Detection that copes with plant, dust, temperature swings and shift patterns without generating false alarms.
Schools & Colleges
Holiday period protection, zoning across multiple blocks, and systems that site staff can operate confidently.
Healthcare
Controlled drug storage protection, usually Grade 3, with strict monitoring requirements.
construction
Temporary and redeployable systems for compounds, cabins and plant storage.
car dealerships
External detection, perimeter protection and CCTV verification for high-value stock held outside.
Alarm Monitoring & Response
A monitored system connects to an Alarm Receiving Centre operating to BS 5979 / BS 8591, staffed 24 hours a day. What happens when an alarm activates depends on how the system is configured and what response level the site holds.
KeyHolder
The ARC contacts your nominated keyholders in an agreed order. Suitable for most commercial premises, provided you have people willing and able to attend at any hour.
professional keyholding
Where you’d rather not send staff to an unknown situation at 2am, a security company attends on your behalf, checks the premises and reports back
Police
Requires a Unique Reference Number (URN) issued by the relevant force, and the system must generate a confirmed alarm to BS 8243 two independent detections, or detection plus visual verification. Police response is withdrawn after three false calls in a rolling twelve months, so false alarm management isn’t optional.

FAQ
Common questions we get asked
Choosing a commercial intruder alarm installation professional comes with plenty of questions. Here are the ones we get asked the most, and we are always happy to answer anything else before you commit.
What grade of intruder alarm does my business insurance require?
Most commercial policies specify a grade directly — commonly Grade 2 for offices and low-risk retail, Grade 3 for warehousing, high-value stock, pharmacy and cash handling. Check your policy schedule or ask your broker. If you’re unsure, we’ll assess the risk at survey and design to whichever is higher: the assessed grade or your insurer’s requirement.
How much does a commercial intruder alarm system cost?
It depends on premises size, grade, number of detection zones and whether the system is monitored. A small retail unit is a different proposition from a 40,000 sq ft warehouse. We quote fixed-price after a free site survey, with installation, maintenance and any monitoring costs itemised separately so you can see exactly what you’re paying for.
What's the difference between a monitored and an audible-only alarm?
An audible-only system sounds a sounder and strobe at the premises. A monitored system also signals to a 24-hour Alarm Receiving Centre, which contacts keyholders, dispatches a response service or requests police attendance. Most commercial insurers require monitoring for anything above low-risk premises.
Can you take over and maintain an existing alarm system?
Usually, yes. If your system is a supported model in reasonable condition and was installed to a recognised standard, we can take it on for maintenance and expansion. We’ll survey it first and tell you honestly whether it’s worth maintaining or whether replacement is the better spend.
How long does installation take?
A small commercial unit is typically one to two days. Larger or phased sites take longer, and we schedule around your operation, out of hours, weekends or in stages on live premises. We’ll give you a firm timescale with the quotation.
Do I need police response, and how do I get it?
Police response requires a Unique Reference Number issued by the relevant force, and the system must produce a confirmed alarm to BS 8243. We apply for the URN on your behalf and configure confirmation correctly. Response is withdrawn after three false calls in twelve months, so proper commissioning matters.
How often does a commercial intruder alarm need servicing?
Audible-only systems require at least one maintenance visit per year. Monitored systems require two, one of which may be carried out remotely. This is a condition of both your NSI/SSAIB certification and, usually, your insurance policy.

CCTV is frequently specified alongside intruder detection, particularly where visual verification is needed to maintain police response or to cut down on unnecessary keyholder callouts.
